Basic Growing Information
It can take a while to germinate and the seeds are tiny so sometimes sowing outdoors, you feel like you’re spreading dust in the wind. Mixing with sand can help. Make sure if you are direct sowing outside you are close to the ground when you do it so the seed doesn’t blow away. If you direct sow, make sure you’ve prepped the ground first so that the tiny seeds make good contact. Keep surface moist until germination. I use the mist setting on my hose and give it a spray every couple of days. It can take up to three weeks to see them sprout.
You can also start indoors by surface sowing the tiny seeds and keep lightly moist until germination When the seedlings have several pairs of true leaves and soil temperatures are at least 60° transplant them into a prepared garden area. A joy max hack is to buy an aluminum cake pan with a plastic lid from the dollar store. It will keep the seeds in humidity until they sprout.
